Recently, news about experimental Facebook machine learning research has been circulating with increasingly alarming, Skynet-esque headlines. “Facebook engineers panic, pull plug on AI after bots develop their own language,” one site wrote. “Facebook shuts down A.I. after it invents its own creepy language,” another added. While remaining neutral on the debate between optimists and pessimists, the exhibit aims to examine other tangible forms of A.I. as perceived by artists and creatives working with technology. Part educational and part thought-provoking, the show aims to attract and spark dialogues among thought-leaders in the field, as well as aspiring next-generation technologists.
